Iranian filmmaker Jafar Panahi won the Cam‚ra d'Or at the 1995 Cannes Film Festival for his film The White Balloon. He was arrested in March 2010 along with his wife, daughter and 15 friends. He was later charged with commiting propaganda against the Iranian government. His latest work, This Is Not a Film, is a documentary feature in the form of a video diary. It was smuggled out of Iran in a flash drive hidden inside a birthday cake and screened at the 2011 Cannes Film Festival. This Is Not a Film screens tonight at 8 p.m. and tomorrow at 3 p.m at Vancity Theatre.
