Fears are mounting for a human rights lawyer who has disappeared within one of Tehran’s most notorious prisons after a month on hunger strike.

Nasrin Sotoudeh, 48, was transferred to solitary confinement in Evin prison two weeks ago and was being held in Ward 209. The section is run by Iran’s Intelligence Ministry, outside the jurisdiction of the prison authorities, and is used for the interrogation and torture of political prisoners.
